Savior of the World Comes to the Pacific Stage

You’ve heard the story of the Savior of the World... Now his story comes to the stage! BYUH Theatre and the local community will bring Savior of the World: His Birth and Resurrection to life on the beautiful Pacific stage at the Polynesian Cultural Center. This sacred musical work bears witness of Jesus Christ through music and testimony, inviting all to feel the wonder of His birth and the majesty of His Resurrection.

Join us at the Pacific Theatre at the Polynesian Cultural Center and partake in the wonder that is the savior's life. Auditions will be held toward the end of the spring semester, and the beginning of the fall semester so keep a look out for those final details.

Synopsis

The story begins with the elderly priest Zacharias and his wife Elisabeth, who have long prayed for a child. While serving in the temple, Zacharias is visited by the angel Gabriel, who announces that Elisabeth will bear a son named John. Because Zacharias doubts, he is struck dumb until the child's birth.

Shortly after, Gabriel visits Mary in Nazareth, announcing she will conceive the Son of God. Mary accepts this divine calling and visits Elisabeth, where they rejoice together in their shared miraculous burdens. Joseph, Mary's betrothed, initially struggles with the news of her pregnancy but is comforted by an angel in a dream, leading him to take Mary as his wife. The act culminates in the journey to Bethlehem and the birth of the Savior.

The second half focuses on the aftermath of the Saviors Crucifixion. It portrays the grief of the disciples and the subsequent discovery of the empty tomb by Mary Magdalene and other women.
