Step into the familiar… and the unexpected!
The magical musical Into the Woods weaves together beloved fairy-tale characters — Cinderella, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel — with a Baker and his Wife on a quest of their own. As wishes come true, consequences come too. Join BYUH’s production as we journey beyond “happily ever after” into a world of wonder, heart, and what it really takes to find our way.
Synopsis
In the village at the edge of the forest, a Baker and his Wife lament their inability to have a child. One day the Witch next door reveals that a curse placed on the Baker’s family long ago can be broken — but only if he and his Wife can procure four seemingly impossible items: a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold.
Meanwhile Cinderella yearns to attend the King’s festival, Jack tries to sell his beloved cow Milky White, Little Red Riding Hood goes to visit her grandmother, and Rapunzel longs for freedom. With paths that cross and intertwine, they all venture “into the woods.”
In Act II the fairy-tale façade falls away as the characters face the costs of their wishes. The woods become a place of reckoning: giants descend, relationships shatter, and the question isn’t just what you wanted, but what it took to get it. In the end, they learn that no one is truly alone.
