Synopsis

In Aida, the story of a love triangle unfolds set in a future Egyptian kingdom that echoes its ancient past. Aida, a Nubian princess, is captured and enslaved after her kingdom is conquered and brought to serve Amneris, the Egyptian princess. Amneris is in love with Radames, the noble military commander who leads Egypt’s forces, but she is unaware that he and Aida have fallen in love. As the tension between duty, love, and loyalty grows, Radames is torn between his devotion to Egypt and his love for Aida. Both women struggle with their feelings for Radames while facing the realities of their positions in society. The tragic conclusion sees the lovers making ultimate sacrifices, unable to escape the forces that divide them. The Broadway hit, with music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice, blends modern pop, rock, and musical theater to tell a timeless story of forbidden love and the costs of following one's heart.
